Meditation on Meditation XVII

An English major
Studies Kinesiology
Two Bachelors wed.

Ordain Disdain
The minister administers
A degree of mockery
Science and Art
Divided in the nave

But not at the altar.

How can she
Reconcile the aisle?
Remove the shroud
Take knowledge in
Sickness and in health

A degree of Humanity
Travels far on a sea of discord
Mankind involved
One day on a piece of the continent
Awash in primordial foam

An English major
Writes the study of movement
A spectrum.

Meditation XVII

No man is an island entire of itself; every man
is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;
if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe
is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as
well as any manner of thy friends or of thine
own were; any man's death diminishes me,
because I am involved in mankind.
And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
